Mollies Croaking It

Ok on monday i bought 4 mollies one died the first night the other 3 looked great and seemed to be doing great. Ok so they all doing well this evening, goes out for a beer comes home to one dead and another looking like its choking on pop corn still alive but going into fits every now and then, The fish themselves are impecable and show no signs of infection and dont when they die, no marks no damage nothing at all, i know its not water quality as the rest of the fish are great and have been for months, so whats the deal with the mollies why are they doing this there is no logical reason?

Are you sure your water is great ? Or just your other fish are used to it ?
What are all your readings ? Ammonia, Nirtite, Nitrate, PH, Temp ?
How do you add new fish to the tank ?

just a thought but do you have brackish water mollies seem to thrive in it but can become sickly if you dont use salts. if you add fish to a tank you should not put the water they came in into your tank there could be hidden disease or parasites

also mollies like brackish water (salty) as i found out when i got mine, can do ok in fresh but the water has to be very good. i found mine got ill quite easly, i was told you can add a bit of salt to help with that unless you corys then thats a bad idea as salt is not good for them.

ive given the mollies to a neighbour now the last two that were left theres nothing wrong with the water quality as i stated in another thread it normally is cleaned and vacummed two days a week and i breed platties and endlers in this tank without any problems at all, the mollies just seemed to upset the whole tank really so they are gone now and im gonna stick to what i know with my platties and endlers as they dont cause me any issues at all thanks for the replys though

I'm sorry to here of your experience with the mollies. Please don't let this put you off keeping them in the future. I have had a very similar thing happen to me. I bought four mollies from the local aquatic dealer i have used for years. Within 3 days all four had died with no visible signs. I did detailed water checks as did the aqatic dealer, no problems noticed. On the other hand i have kept and bred the same pair of black mollies for about 2 years. I have found with mollies more than any other fish i have kept success is based more on luck than anything else. Good luck in the future.
