Hi guys, I just read half the posts on this forum and you all seem great! I was chastised by a friend and fellow fish person for having both gouramis and mollies in the same tank. Is this a no-no?? Please help! I have two gouramis and four mollies along with an algae eater.

Well, that really depends on what's going on in your tank and also what size it is. Is everybody getting along?

Welcome to the forum!!

I find no problems between my Mollies and My pearl and 3-spot gouramis. Go for it. Make sure you have plenty of surface space because they are both top dwellers. (They stay towards the top of the tank.)

They seem to be getting along okay, they have been tank mates since Sunday. One of the kissers does taunt the white mollie a bit, it likes to chase it into the corner and make it stay there, it also chases the other kisser around. It has no interest in the other three mollies at this point! The mollies liike to eat out of the rocks and it nibbles stuff off of the aquarium decorations, could they be missing something from their diets? I read they need live food from time to time but I have only been giving them flake food to this point.

I am very sorry to ask so much, I have read extensively on both kinds of fish, I just find that sometimes it is easier to go to someone who knows them thatn to just take the readings as gospel.

BTW My mollies are

1 all white
1 black with white spots
1 white with black spots with crescent shaped tail fin
1 gold, black and orange with crescent tail fin

Well this is no longer as issue as both of the gourami died last night, don't yell at me but yes they were Wal Mart fish. I purchased them on Sunday and now here it is Thursday and they are both deceased. :( I am so mad! Not because I am out the money but because they died. I know the tank is fine, I have a professional fish guy that tests it weekly.
