Good Afternoon
In the 3-4 days my female mollie just did not look right - not swimming aggressively but just staying in one place.
Then I noticed her lips are swollen and she looks like a kissing gourmai (sp).
1. What cause this there is no white fur (fungus)
2. Is it contagious
3. What cure
4. I have added salt and Melafix to tank
5. Tank is a 55 gal with HOB and underground filter with pwr heads. 18 inch bubble wand & 4 inch disc bubbler. All parameters are great but my nitrates are always very high. Temp is raised to 81 degrees no hospital tank (it is what it is). It is a community tank with many fish and very very seldom do any fish die. 50% water changes weekly.
Looking for advise she is just a beauty - tan body with orange pec fins and dorsal fin

I'm worried that could be lockjaw.
Salt may help, melafix probably no effect, but the raised temperature could be detrimental. Lower the temperature and maximise oxygenation. Keep the water very clean.

Just did a 50% water change
Will try to lower temp.
Water in FLA is about 79 degrees now (summertime)
Never heard of lock jaw any cure?

Sorry, I have only heard of it on here and it all seemed pretty vague. :(
