Hi, my mollie looks to have got rid of the white spot he had last week. But he just does not seem right. He's hiding under the rocks and panting, he rarely comes out, I raised the temp to 80 and used ick treatment, I've now put the temp back to 77 ish.

My water chemical balance is fine though the ph at 6.4 is a tad low.

Any ideas?

How long did you keep the tank at 80 for? some people don't recommend raising the temp of you tank, but to use meds.

Personally, I have just battled off ich, by raising to 85 and adding a little aquarium salt. I think the guidelines suggest 82-85. Within 24 hours of my tank reaching 85, the white spots had cleared. I am leaving it for 4 days before slowly lowering the temp again.

Good luck :)

Hello

First when I started , which is not so long ago. I was having lots of trouble with ick. Upon suggestions from a couple long timers, I raised my temp slowly to 82 and that is where they told me to leave it. No stressed fish becuase of it , if anything they seem more active and no ick since. I have had some other troubles but not related to the temp as far as I can tell.

how are the plants reacting at 82? mine look to be dieing. I left it at 82 for 2 days. Is it safe to leave it at 82 all the time.

I have no live plants , I plan on getting a juno fern this week as I hear they can take just about anything. I made a lot of mistakes with the fish when I started this hobby so I stopped there and figured I would learn about plants before I bought any. As for the fish , they have been in water at 82 for the past 8 weeks. They were all doing great until I bought home a sick fish from the LFS. Although they are all starting to look fine again now after 3 days of treating with MarOxy.
