Ok so most will be aware by now that im modifying a 4ft tank into sections so i can house 4 bettas. i was going to split it into 5 but i think the size of 4 will keep them happy :) I have the tank, gravel and the heating will be two 2x 50watt heaters with one down either end. Dividers are Penplax and the tank will be split into four sections. Im tossing up and have been the last four months about filtration. My fiancee' does not want another external filter due to power consumption etc as we already have two massive tanks and the 4ft is meant to cut down on the small bettas tanks we have. So im wondering with filtration, ive settled for an under gravel filter....is it possible to modify the outlet so theres a hose that runs across the tank like a spray bar? obviouslly if the outlet is down one end then trying to get through clean water to four different sections will pose a problem. I already have the spray bar with left over parts from my other filters.

Any thoughts would be great. I have a spare spray bar i was wanting to put across the tank if i can modify the outlet through a hose or something.....

Or is it possible to have more than one outlet pipe, i would need to have more powerheads wouldnt i?

Are you running the ugf with powerheads instead of an air pump? If so, get some tubing & T fittings from the hardware store, attach tubing to the powerhead, put a T fitting for a water supply to each section.

just dump the under gravel filters time to move on to the new age external filters

t1karmann - i already have two large tanks both with external filters ;) the reason why an under gravel filter may be better is power consumption etc etc.

**still trying to find a power head to go with the under gravel filter. i deally i would love to have the powerhead attach to the spray bar or hose so the water circulation can be threaded through the dividers or over the top to provide adequate water circulation for the two middle sections.

Look at any local hardware or DIY sort of shop for clear tubing. It comes in a variety of sizes, you can nest small sections together to fit nearly anything to anything. Heating it with hot water helps for a tight fit, I generally use a cigarette lighter, does the same thing.

Bring the powerhead & section of UGF tubing with you, my hardware store guys are used to me coming in with odd things & ideas, they have helped out numerous times.
