in my 55 uk gall at the moment I have 6 cardinal tetras and 7 zebra danios. I want to add four small gouramis (two red honeys, and teo I haven;t decided on yet) and a corydora. However I am now aware corydoras do better in groups of three, and male gouramis sometimes get aggressive with one another. Would this still happen if the two males were different species? Am I pushing the stocking levels? I think it should be ok but advice is always welcome

Thanks

I dont know much about gouramis so I will let someone else answer that part. As for the corys IMO you would be fine getting a group of them. Since they are mainly bottom dwellers they shouldnt effect your other fish much at all. A group of three is the minimum they actually do even better in larger groups.

What kind of corys are you thinking of getting?

I have read that male Gourami's can fight with eachother yes, i have 1 male, and did have 1 female but she died yesterday... :-(

Also Male fighting fish will kill eachother, so dont put more than one male in your tank

Good luck

The gouramis I am getting are already tank mates so it should be ok. I;m getting the two red honey ones I fell in love with and two plain honey ones. I'm also getting 3 peppered corydora's, but my supplier has got to order them for me, he says he will have them by the end of the week. I didn't really want three but I guess you have to do what's right for the fish. That will be my tank full I think.
I know two male fighters will kill each other but personally most of the fish with very long fins and tails don't appeal to me. Please if they are your thing don't feel offended, it's a good job we all like different things.
