Hi

I noticed while doing my weekly water change today that my larger bala shark has got a slightly misty hue over the outside of its eyes. The pupils on this fish have always been grey/white and this have never changed (had the fish over a year), but the outside now looks cloudy. I am sure that when I first got them I read somewhere that this is to do with water quality butmy parametres have been stable for months now so there doesn't seem to be a link there.

Does any one have experience of this??

Cloudy eyes are often a symptom before pop eye appears and as far as i know, are both caused by the same internal bacteria or poor water quality so some internal bacterial meds are probably called for

I have a bala shark with completely cloudy eyes. He has been like this since we bought him. He is blind and grows at nowhere near the rate of the other balas (around 1-2 inches in 6 months).

I have heard (and seen) the eyes cloud up slightly when the fish is stressed or mildly concussed (the largest doesn't like water changes and still doesn't know where the end of the tank is... :/ ) but this soon fades.

HIH

Andy
