I have a 6 month old tank and all is going well with livestock, except that every time I buy cleaner shrimps they just seem to be there one night and vanished out of sight the next... It's a complete mystery. I notice shedded skins from time to time but no dead carcus. Anyone experienced anything simillar? I have two fire shrimps which I have had no problems with from initial set up.

Hi
I know whenever I get new shrimp, they will hide at first. They also hide after they shed the old exo-skeleton as they are soft and vulnerable for awhile. Are you sure they aren't still in the tank? How many have you put in there? Are your fire shrimp compatible with what I'm assuming is amano shrimp that you have? I don't know if the fire shrimp will kill the amano. I have cherry shrimp and amanos together and they do fine. Try turning over wood and looking for them. If they're gone, someone has eaten them unfortunately.

my shrimps go missing all the time lol... i only ever notice them when i take out all my wood and plants on cleaning days :p they best be doing their job whever they go lol

would your fish naturally eat the shrimp in the wild? or is it a community based tank?

I have cleaner shrimps and 2 fireshrimps... The fire shrimps hang out together in the same place and the cleaner shrimps tend to congragate around the powerheads. They have just vanished, but no sign of a carcus... Something is eating them but its a mystery ;(

Stock wise I have clowns, and damsels, a dottyback, a goby and yellow tang... Im just wondering if there is a crab hidden in the live rock somewhere.

Sorry, didn't realize you had a marine set up  which makes my previous comment completely pointless...er, goodluck.
