Well, my goby has been missing for about 4 days now.
I know which caves and crevices he seems to perfer... not there.
He hasn't come out to eat....
I did my monthly filter and substate cleaning today...I moved all the lr and check every little knook and cranny....NO GOBY....

Am i going crazy???

i have
an angel
anthias
clowns
chromis
fan worm
colt coral
polyps
mushrooms..... and 1 MIA goby.

:-(

I checked all around the outside of my tank..on the floor and such...nothing...
checked all lr...did maintenance on filter and skimmer...took them to the sink to clean..only thing i could think is that he flopped himself out...but no ... not there either. :S

Nope...no mantis
Ok, no other problems in the tank? As far as ich?

Last question, how big is the tank and how much LR do you have in it? Only reason I'm asking is my buddy has a 75 with a ton of LR in it and has lost many fish only dew to less swimming room.

ive got a 55 with 60lbs of lr
my aquascape is specifically set up for as much free swim room i could possibly create while housing just enough lr to get the benifits i need.

no ich.....everything is healthy

what do you all think about the possiblility of a bristle worm???

did you look under the sand? move the sand around? Once one of my dead fish was found under sand.

I went to town yesterday...determined to find the guy.

I vaccumed every square inch of sand...checked all my lr...i figured while i had an enormous amount of energy i'd tackel brushing out my filter and skimmer too.

The good news is that my tank is happy.... for a moment or two during my intense focus cleaning i worried about stressing out every living thing in the tank....

hmm.. another possibility..

do you have a cat or dog? If the fish had jumped out, another pet might've eaten it (my bird ate one of my betta's once, it happens  )

Maybe he went into the fishness protection program.

Actually, I'd have to agree - my next thought was that another little animal like a cat came by and ate it.

I have a dog.....
she's great, about half the time i'm sitting in front of my tank....she's there too...
watching the fish.
Maybe she had a fishy snack

i'll keep everyone posted if my Goby mysteriously shows his little frowny face.

Thanks for all the replies

Your goby could have simply died in the tank and been consumed by the clean up crew.

cleanup crew can make a fish vanish in a couple of hours :(

Ya know - what a bummer is that, really?

Can you just imagine the conversation inside a tank....
"Hey, Nemo - Look! Spike just kicked the bucket - let's go eat him!"
"Yeah -OoOooOh yes!"

Man, it's no wonder fish nip at each other every now and then - it's that whole "I know when I die you'll be the first to start eating" mentality.
