I just noticed one of my neon tetras is missing an eye all of a sudden. Other than
the eye he seems fine. Since melafix wont doesnt help eyes grow back, should I put him down before he gets a disease and spreads it? I just bought a live plants for the tank so I dont want to put harsh ich meds in the tank. I dont really have
anywhere else to put him. It will be hard to put him down because he SEEMS fine.
I would like to hear what you think I should do.

Thanx,

I don't know what to do, but a little story. I had a buenos aires tetra loose an eye about 4 months ago. Everything's been fine until today. Now I had a huge ICH outbreak (see my other post here). I'm not sure if it was that particular fish who started the outbreak, but he was the one who was the sickest (and the only tetra who has passed away thus far). I'm not sure if the two are related, but makes you think. I wouldn't risk your other fish if the two are related, but I don't really know. Good luck to you!

I'm not sure what you should do, but I just thought I should say that I wouldn't put ich meds in the tank if there isn't even any ich noticeable in the tank. Ich meds won't help the fish that is missing an eye.

Sorry if my post was confusing, my dog was desperately seeking my attention when I was trying to write this. I meant I dont want to end up with ich. myenigaself's story is making me lean towards the clove oil.

i have a tetra which lost an eye.
I just have to put the food in front of him so he sees it :D

just keep the melafix up so he doesnt develope an infection in the socket.
If hes still eating and carring on as normal theres no need to put him down.

This morn I noticed the other fish were picking on him and he was swimming crooked so I had to clove oil him. Sad.
