I have 2 ADFs in my tank, but I only see one of them anymore, and I haven't seen the other for a good week or 2. I know they like to hide, but my tank is small and I still can't find him. Do they bury themselves in gravel??

ADF's are notorious for escaping even out of the tiniest holes. Are you sure your tank is completely sealed or could it have got out somehow?

Well I take my roof off when I change the water, so he could've jumped out, but I would've found him by now. Can they live on land (I mean enough that it could've found a way out of my Apartment?)

They are entirely aquatic creatures,so they don't last long out of water.Mine have sometimes hidden away for a few days. But if it's been longer than that you may have a problem.I'm guessing from your post that they don't look enough alike for you to be seeing both but only one at a time.If the MIA frog doesn't turn up you may want to do a more thorough search of the tank.

Shortly after I got my three ADF's a few months ago, one vanished. I searched high and low around my tank and my apartment, and then high and low inside my tank, and I never found the dang creature. I have yet to figure out what happened to it. My best guess is that it died and the snails ate it :(

I know that probably isn't helpful, but just wanted to let you know that I had a similar experience with vanishing artist ADF's.

If it is dead, will anything in my tank eat it? I wouldn't think so. I do have some little tiny snails in there that hitched a ride with some plants from the LFS.

Re, missing frog. We have an albino clawed frog who has managed to escape from a rekord 60 tank four times so far! Each time we thought there was no chance for escape with secured wiring gaps etc.
First and second time he was found after a couple of hours or so, dusty from under the sofa. So earning his name of Dirty Harry. His last two escapes have had the family a nervous wreck walking around with eyes fixed on ground, cautiously opening doors etc.
He escaped on wednesday last week, some time during the day, leading to a total search of the house and tool kits as we had been laying a floor that day. Nowhere to be found. search continued until Saturday when he jumped out onto my foot after i vaccuumed the hallway. Picked him up, this time he was fairly clean although a bit dry!
Put him back in the tank after checking for wounds etc, fed him some bloodworm, checked the tank for gaps, and went out. Returned a couple of hours later and he had gone again :S
Again searched the house and checked the pond to see if he had got that far, no sign anywhere. We put a shallow dish of tank water down on the ground to see if he would find it and stay there, but no sign. By Thursday we had become resigned to waiting for an odour to develop. When our 4 yr old daughter shouted to me 'Froggys back', I ran to the room and sure enough there he was doing his little hop on the floor in front of the tv!! No wounds, dry,- to be expected really. Put him back in the tank and fed some bloodworm agin and further secured the thin gaps that remained from his escape. Pleased to say that he is still in there. :D
All i mean to say is dont give up hope, he may still turn up. We checked in the gravel and filter etc when he has gone, thinking that there was nowhere for him to escape from.
He currently shares the tank with a chocolate oranda, black moor, red clawed crab and a plec. B)

A few years ago one of my ACF's escaped, and went from my bedroom upstairs, into the hallway, down the stairs, around into the dining room, and we found him dried up on the floor a few weeks later. Deader than dead. And another one escaped on me once and we found the dog trying to eat it. Yuck!

And a few weeks ago my Albino ACF got out of the 55, and my friend was here and he was like, "Liz, is that frog supposed to be out?"

And there he was sliding across the floor.

I just bought 2 day before yesterday. Went I let the out of the bag, they immediately went for the bottom rear of the tank. and I havent seen them since. hopfully they are just hiding. dont even see them at feeding time.

That is exactly what mine did.
