i went to look at a 2nd hand tank earlier this week and was told it was 3ft, when i got there it was 2ftx1ftx1ft...... the tank was really overstocked with all the wrong fish -1 bala shark, 1 rts, 2 large gouramis, 5 phantom tetras, 1 bolivian ram, 1 albino cory, 1 common plec and 1 long finned rosy barb  can you believe that.....?
anyway i bought the tank just to help the fish out as i really wanted a 3ft! the fish have now been rehomed and the tank is cleaned, sand substrate 2 pieces of bogwood and my new 6 green stripes. im using it as a qt tank for them, but after 2 weeks i wanted to add my other 5 green stripes and have a species tank and have my other 3ft cory tank a gold stripe species tank so they dont cross breed. is this tank big enough to house 11 corys or do i need to look for another? i know the inch per gallon is way out, i think its about 15 US gallons, but corys arent that messy and dont have a huge impact on the bio load so could i get away with this? i know the more room the better and if its not do-able then i will provide a bigger tank once i can find one local and cheap enough. at the minute most of my greens are still quite small but when they reach 2.5 inches it may be a bit crowded.
the tank is being filtered by the fluval 2+ that came with it as it should be cycled, although i will be checking water stats religiously....

The tank as long as very over filtered would do, i personally think it's to small and at least a 2.5 foot tank is required.

I think you will need to up the filtration and you may get away with it, but a 3 foot tank would be far better for them.

yeah thats what i was after really, ill keep an eye out for one as i have a spare aquaone aquis 1000 external filter that should do the job nicely on a 3ft. i have no choice until i get the new tank but they are still small so should be ok for a short time i guess  and the 6 greens are going to be in there as quarentine for 2 weeks anyway. ill keep looking but all the cheap decent tanks are always really far away, it seems everyone in the midlands want the price they paid for their tanks..... maybe were just tight

Yep we are tight, best way to be :p.

They should be fine for the time been, probably be ok for life but if the plans are to breed them... the happier they are the more chance for breeding from my experience and a slightly larger tank(again only in my opinion) would be much better :)
