I wanted to know this because i was just in Petsmart (i hate this store) and i saw some Axolotols about an inch long so same size as corys. I know axolotols are cold water because i have one, but i also have corys in my tropical tank. Well why do PetSmart have them in the same tank. Bit weird. I never heard of corys in cold water or axolotls in warm water so why have they done this. I would have asked but there where actually no staff on the shop floor or at the counter :sly:

it all depends on the cory. Some do well in cool waters of 21 degree some like around 26 degree.

I personally keep mine at around 24 degree for breeding purposes and do the regular cool water changes.

My cory tank is currently at 25 degree.

defo not a cold water fish though... well, not the run of the mill corys anywa

i would imagine that the axolotl is kept in tropical temperatures with the cories, rather than the cories being kept in coldwater temperatures with the axolotl. This is because cories are a commonly seen fish in an lfs, i expect most if not all fish shops stock cories, however unless im mistaken axolotls are less common (?) so as silly as it sounds, i would expect that due to experience of stocking them, the LFS workers would know to keep cories in tropical temperatures (at least sub-tropical), and maybe not have the experience or knowledge to know that axolotls are coldwater. Hope you see where im coming from.
