What size tank are we talking about. What is it you like about them? the shape, the stripes, their calm demeanor?

Mainly the shape and the stripes. i just know i cant afford a massive tank so i was looking for alternatives

If your thinking of setting up a new tank and can fit in a 40 gal or ideally a 55 gal, a Mbuna setup would work. Many Mbuna have stripes similar to Frontosa's and whilst their shape is not exactly the same it is not dis-similar. Lombardoi, Zebra's, Demasoni (see avatar) all have stripes....check them out and see what you think. :)

thanx danl they both look great kinda just what i was thinking of

any one got any furtehr info on the tank size etc

I wouldn't go with anything less then a 75 gallon if you want to keep them with other fish. These guys are very territorial, and their territories are the whole tank. A single specimen will go with other large and robust Tangs,

A single pair would need a tank to themselves, but you can get away with a smaller tank. The best way to get a good pair is to get a hold of a few of them and let one form - Just buying two random fish won't do it. The extra fish will need to be removed of course.

They're substrate spawners, so sand is best, along with a moderate amount of rockwork.
