so, went and got some water today and the lady asked if it was for marine so i said yeah. she then asked do i want minerals. i was like what? then she asked what salt so i showed her. and she said that it would be best to add minerals. i asked what its for she said it buffers the water?

so was this right that i needed added minerals, if so what do they do. its just ive never had it mineralised before.

Is it in a bottle you add yourself?

You dont need it, that's for sure, but I use bottled minerals in my tank. It just adds trace elements that are found in sea water, allegedly helps stabalise the water but I buy it to try and replicate sea water as best as possible.

Which salt DO you use?

As long as it's a decent brand, there should be enough trace elements or "minerals".

Is it in a bottle you add yourself? in the ro water

A decent salt brand will contain all of the essential nutrients such as Mg[sup]2+[/sup] Ca[sup]2+[/sup] K[sup]+[/sup] etc, I'd only add them if you find levels become depleted, which they shouldn't.

okay, why did they do it then?
it will still be fine right?

Yeh it'll be fine fishy - they just mo money!

+1 to all the above my little buddy :good:

Oh yes, when you get a buddy, be careful what you are thinking :p and no, it wont effect your reading.

She was trying to make a buck!!!!

I use tropic marin and it buffers your ph, kh cal, mag etc as well as others so no need to add anything.

50p per what?
It soon adds up though fishy, then must get at least 10 customers a day-7days a week that's £35! 30days a month! - £150 per month!!!

And I bets it's 50p per litre or something!!!
