I was bleaching all the ornamental stuff in my tank with the midnight catfish.. so basically their normal hiding spots were gone.. The smallest one (about 5'') has a large chunk of body missing, and another small piece of ''skin'' missing.. it's not like a surface wound, it's actual chunks of skin gone..

I'm really not sure which fish did it, but I'm going to move all the other fish out of the tank within the next few days..

So what I'm wondering is.. should I be putting anything in the tank to help it heal?... it looks bad, but not infected..

Should I just be keeping the water extra clean? or is there something I can add to help?

The only ''med'' that I have is pimafix..

Thanks for the help!! Don't want to lose me sharks!

My guess would be the convict cichlid or the oscar has taken a dislike to their nocturnal prowlings, chocolates can also be a bit bitey but dont have the same dentition as the other two.

Clean water and melafix will help the wounds heal up, catfish are suprisingly hardy when it comes to body damage.

It's not in the tank with any of those fish.. It's in with 2 festivum, 2 jurupari, and a bichir.. the size made me think bichir, but there is a chunk missing on the side of it.. no way the bichir could latch on like that.. so probably the festivum..

Should I try the pimafix I have? or just keep the water clean?

I added back a couple things for them to hide in so hopefully the gouges wont get any worse.

Wasn't sure if salt was a good idea, I'm guessing it isnt.

It's gettting worse.. the gouges are getting bigger, and looking kinda whitish.. I think fungus might be about to take off.. Big water change then pimafix for tomorrow..

Attitude wise it looks alright.. still swimming around and eating which is good.. Just hope I can close up the wounds.

Poor thing is really messed up.. breathing heavily and covered in slime..

pretty sure it's going to die..

I would euthanize it, but it's kinda large and doing so humanely would be difficult.. I think I'm just going to put it in a bucket with water in the dark and let it die peacefully I guess..

I don't know.. I'm really annoyed I didn't take it out. :|
