hi peeps

I "had" 5 Mickey Mouse Platys 1 male and four female, but 2 of the females have died, leaving 2 females and a male, they seem to die of fin rot "of sorts" , their tail fins have bits missing but not frayed. but there isnt any other symptoms and none of the other fish in the tank have any problems. and I do keep checking. I also keep checking the water stats and there all reading normal.

now what i'm thinking is, could the dominant female platy(there is one larger female who is a lot brighter in colour and personallity then the others) be attacking the other famles? I have seen her chasing the other females around the tank, but is this normal, I would have thought platys were like sword tail and prefere lots of females?
not sure if this is making 100% sence but please if you can help that would be fab

Yep, it's possible a dominate female will be picking on the others. I am slightly confused though, because you said you had 2 females and a male, and yet she's chasing females?

But anyway, yes, it is entirely possible she's a bully. Some of them are. Make sure they all get enough food, as that can sometimes be a cause for aggression.

How many Platies do you have, male and female wise? And what size tank? :)
