I will be building my lights into my own hood, tank will be 40x24x24 - and I will only really be looking at easy to keep corals.
I currently have some (x4)70w 35w MH ballasts - the ballasts (T5 or MH) seem to be the most expensive part ![Stick Out Tongue :p :p](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
My ideas are either...
1. 4x 70w MH (enough on their own do you think?)
2. 4x 39w T5 (or 6x)
3. A mix of the two (2x 70w MH + 2x 39w T5 etc etc)
/edit I now have a 150w MH ballast+reflector as well, to add into the mix![Stick Out Tongue :p :p](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
4. 1x 150w MH + 2x 39w T5
/edit the 70w ballasts I was given are only 35w
although they have 70w MH bulbs in the units. I wasn't intending on using these bulbs, just the ballasts.
Thoughts?
