MH lights on a FW tank

I think that I have seen this thread once before (pre-disaster) but cannot find anything on it. Has anyone used MH lighting on a FW tank? I have a 90gal (US) display tank and was thinking about using some of my income tax refund for a combo MH/flor. light fixture. Anyone have any exp trying it? If so, what are the pros/cons? Thanks.

I' use metal halides for my reef but have never tried the on freshwater. you would need to go for a 6500K bulb. I think that mercury vapoure lights may be better for plant growth though.
