I believe Waterlife Octozin contains metronidazole. Personally I wouldn't use metronidazole though as it causes permanent organ failure (renal failure). The effect isn't immediate, it's cumulative, so if you use it again in the future that's when you'll cause problems.

Thanks.

I have noticed white poop in my tank again, a lot of it is coming from the plec but i also noticed my sick discus having a solid white poo earlier, i have been on another website looking this up and it is likely caused by Hexamitiasis, the poo is not segmented, and i have already used kusuri wormer (Flubendazole based) which had had very little effect.

I also read (forgot where) that upping the temp to 89f and treating with epson salts can work, just not sure how well this would go down in my community tank.

Just been looking this up and found out that waterlife do not state what drugs they use in their products, and while reading up on that i stumbled on a forum where people say that metro is only available via prescription on not over the counter in the UK

It is more likly to be Dimetridazole based.

Flubendazole is a pretty good dewormer and I would expect it to have some effect normally and white faeces can be a sign of bacterial infection too. I would treat with something like Interpet No.9 to take account of an internal bacterial infection.

This i will do asap.

Agreed with PrimeOrdeal on this one.

Waterline do state what is in their products on the lable of the bottle, they have to by law.

Are you certain it contains metro? i am not trying to say otherwise, i really appreciate your help, but looking Waterlife Octozin up online it has a lot of mixed results, some say it does use metro, others say it is Dimetridazole based, also no info on waterlife's own site that i can find.

Also if metro is only available via Vets in the UK i guess that it would be illegal to sell over the counter in a product? unless the laws change when it is added mixed with other ingredient's, i dont know...

There's a get out clause called the "small 'something (can't remember)' exemption" which allows small quantities of drugs to be sold direct rather than needing a vet's scrip.

I'm pretty sure it's not metronidazole in the waterlife products, sorry.. Meant to say that. I used metronidazole I got for my discus a few years ago in a JBL product... Did naff all!
