I ordered several different types of medications, so I would have different types on hand should I need them, since my LFS or LPS don't carry a wide variety.

So I bought a bottle of Methylene Blue, but I was reading the instructions and they are very vauge...to the point I don't see any *real* instructions for usage.

here is what the bottle says:

DIRECTIONS: To aid in general disease prevention, detoxification of fishes suffering from nitrite or cyanide poisoning and for use as a phrohylaxis against fungus infections of fish spawns (eggs), add 1 teasponn per 10 gallons of water (this produces 3ppm methylene blue). Remove carbon from filters but keep filtration running. Replace carbon after completion of the treatment. can be combined with Kordon's Acriflavine and NovAqua when used as a preventative, especailly with newly hatched fry. For use as a dip, prepare a seperate tank, add 5 teaspoons per 3 gallons of water (this produces 50 ppm methylene blue). Dip fish no more then 10 seconds.

So my question is..exactly what is the treatment? How long do you treat for? How do you knwo when you are finished?

Very confusing imo.

I see two sets of instructions in there. The first for treatment in a tank and the second for a dip :)

add 1 teaspoon per 10 gallon. it says it right there...

gl with that.

remove the carbon i would think.

I didn't buy it to treat anyone persay..only have it on hand should I need it. I liek to be prepared in the case of an emergency. I wasn't prepared for what is going on with Toy..and I had to wait 4 days to receive medication...should he have had something life threatening...he would have died :(. I'm a plan-a-header lol..it's what I do. :D

Yes, you're right Sorrell, there are 2 sets of instructions. I understand the dip ones. (they're pretty straight forward lol) but for the other usage...how long is "The Treatment" supposed to last?

5 days, 7days, 2 years?

Most medications give you a time frame..so you know when to discontinue treatment..this doesn't. So I'm a bit confused on how long, should I need to use it, should I use it to treat with.

*edit*Thanks Ral...that actually gave the treatment schedule...weird why it isn't on the actual bottle itself. -_-
