Well chaps, my tank is running very, very well.....four Fire mouths, two Blue Acara's, ten green and normal tiger barbs and a pleco (lovely jubley).
Testing all the normal water condition things tonight in my tank, and what do you know....I found a bottle of Methylene Blue in my treatment box. -_-
Not been on this wonderful forum for long so I thought....I KNOW!!.....I will ask the forum crew...they WILL KNOW....goody...goody ....goody!

This Methylene Blue...what do you all think???.....About five or six years ago I heard that it should not be used....but today I still see it's for sale in my local aquarium shop.

It would be nice to get some feed back on this powerful stuff from all you guys and girls :D

Thanx :kana:

Keep up the good work, your loyal servant....Fishy Finger :hey:

Hi Fishy Finger :)

Methylene Blue is an old fashioned remedy seldom used as a treatment these days. An assortment of antibiotics and other preparations are used instead. The only time I use it is as an antifungal to reduce the chances of developing a fungus on the eggs when my fish spawn.

I use methblue all the time. I've even treated ich with it. I swear by the stuff,as you could see by the stained decor and silicone in my tanks.

Scaleless fish can absorb Meth Blue through the skin, in anything but small doses, it can kill them. You should always avoid it with Corys, Botias, Loaches etc. etc.

I do use it sometimes with eggs I have to say, not often, if it 's something really special and I know it is safe.

I have used it with a weather loach and I used 2 drops per US gallon.

I was really worried about using it but there were no bad effects, sadly the loach died anyway but I don't think he was ever going to make it.

i think.... you should avoid getting it on your hands! one of my colleagues did that. she had blue hands for the rest of the day!!!
