Saw a couple of clown plecos in the store today. They looked a little thin but otherwise OK. Unfortunately the store is an hour from here, so even if I decide I want them I might not have time to go get them tomorrow before someone else buys them.
Anyway, the point of the post is that I know they are wood chewers and they make a mess with it. But how much of a mess do they make? And how much of the wood do they really eat? Am I going to have to be replacing nice pieces of driftwood because they've basically chewed them completely to bits or is it just a little that they chew off every once in a while?
And does anyone know their personality? Would two of them do well in a planted 55 gallon tank that has gouramis, barbs, and yoyo loaches? There is also a rubbernose pleco in there but I may move him. I also have a 20 gallon high (13"x 24"x16") with stocking room to put one or both clowns in but that seems like it would be a little cramped, right?
TIA!
