Tomorrow (Tues.) I'm going to bring home a rescue betta that a guy from the LFS put into a tank with nippers. He should have known as they did it to another one just the week before but let's go on from there.

I'm putting him into a glass bowl of about 2 gallons or so with the usual dechlorinators, a bit of aquarium salt, etc. Do I put in some Melafix, something else or just let him heal on his own? I begged the onwer of the store as I felt he was going to die in the circumstances they had him in and, unfortunately at this point, I can't give him a filtered tank etc but it's better than there!!. So---any suggestions would be most welcome. Maybe some Indian Almond leaf?

This is my first attempt at a rescue. He's such a rageddy guy right now--just nipped to shards. I think the first one died as I don't see it in there now and don't want to even ask about it.
Thanks very much in advance. Many here have more experience than I do and have done this very same thing. :S

I probably don't know as much as most of the people on this site, but I can tell you from experience I have had with ripped fins that Melafix works great!

Just put it in as it says on the bottle, i think it is a bit each day for 7 days? you will have to check, but it fixes the fins really fast

Thanks Michele. I think that's exactly what I'm going to use. I was over at the store today and they wanted me to take it right then but I wanted to research a bit more first. I PM'd Cracker too and he also suggested the same thing. Thanks again for your response!
