Melafix wont do diddly to get rid of whitespot as it is an antibacterial remedy and whitespote is a parasite.

Two products that I have used and do work is No 6 Anti White Spot and Waterlife Protozin.

Totally agree with breezer40, Melafix is no good for whitespot. I have successfully used the Interpet no.6 treatment a couple of times and have never lost any fish to whitespot.

Another good tip is to raise the tank temp to 30 degrees C , which will speed up the process of killing the whitespot. If you can increase the oxygen levels while treating the tank aswell with an airstone or similar, this will help the fish. Adding any medication reduces the O2 levels so counteracting this process will help your fish.
