I have been using melafix as a few of my angels had fin and tail rot, to help their fins grow back.
Anyway since using it i have noticed some empty snail shells on the bottom of the tank.
Also my big apple snail recentley died aswell.
Is there some conection or just coincidence ?
( i have far to many snails anyways but i just wanted to know :))

I just had the same thing happen. I used Melafix and Salt and both snails were dead two days later.

I had this problem too--MelaFix made my snail very sick and lethargic (even for a snail). I think it's because it's supposed to kill parasites and diseases, and snails are just a more advanced type of parasite, so it makes them sick.

Hmmm,
I never noticed until now, but there are no snails in the q-tank where I always use Melafix. The packaging states that Melafix is safe for snails though -_-

is it possible that the malafix is killing off what the snails munch on? i used it for a while. no snails. lots of snails now. maybe i should use some. 2 little ones that rode in on a plant turned into 10, then 10 into 1000...

Uh-oh  I know what that can be like!!

If you have snails multiplying in your tank, the best thing is to try to pick them out by hand. If you add anything to kill them, you will just end up with a tank full of dead snails that will still have to be picked out.....and quickly, before they rot and pollute the water.
