I've been using melafix now for 2 days. Fish seem much more happy and practically jump out of the tank for the food! 
First, I guess I should tell you whats been going on. A week ago I added 4 dime size Angels to my tank. THey seemed very happy and healthy for two days, then suddenly started dying off for no apparent reason. Then all my established fish started with not eating, hovering at the top of the tank in one corner. I immediately started with Aquarisol, as that was all I had and its supposed to be good for many different things. I did lose 2 platies. To whatever this is. I had ich in my tank several weeks ago and recovered nicely. There were no signs of spots or scratching on these fish. One of the platies that passed did seem to have Bacterial fin rot. As part of the tail went missing and she had long stringy white poop. 
I must also tell you that I had guppies in this same tank that got moved to a 10 gal. Whatever this was totally wiped out my guppies in a couple of days. So it's nasty!! From what I've read about diseases, it sure seemed possible it was bacterial in some way? So to finally get to my point, my fish are acting wonderfully now and I was just wondering if I should do the full 7 day treatment or would I be doing more harm than good? I've heard very good things about this melafix, but I don't want to over medicate either. I did stop the Aquarisol once I started the melafix. The bottle says treat for 7 days then make a 25% water change. If symptoms are gone no need to retreat. Is this what you would do? THanks in advance. ~N~
