Melafix And Salt.

My new girl was in a tank with two other girls at the LFS and I guess she was beat up because she's got a chunk of skin missing from her side. Anyways I was wondering if using melafix and salt causes stress on the fish? When I put her in the tank, she didn't have the stripe and was swimming around, but now that I've added some melafix the stripe is back and she's just sitting on a leaf at the top with her nose to it, moving every once and a while to breath.

Did I maybe add too much medication? if I did should I do a half water change or what?

i dont know if this is true, but from experience i think that melafix is too strong for bettas, I generally do 50-75% of the actual dosage, even less if its in a smaller container not a tank.

i dont know if its true, but i've had cases like that too, and by lowering the dosage my fish do fine, and they recover.

Ok I just did a half water change, she's still up in the plant but I'll wait and see how she is as she relaxes.
