Just wondering if there are any clubs or meet ups in the Cumbria area to talk about tropical fish keeping, or if anyone on this forum from the area that would like to see up a meet up and talk over problems and news.

im in barrow and theres sod all here for fish keeping community. I'll buy fish food from here but not an awfull lot more , tend to go to Manchester or Carlise for fish stuff

I totally agree with you we have about three shops, and one big pet shop mentioning no names that don't know a fish from a turtle. been trying to stock my new tank but can't get the fish what i want. nice to someone else from Barrow

Venue - Old Malton Memorial Hall, Old Malton, N. Yorks. YO17 7HD

Doors open - 10.00a.m.

Events in the main hall - Talk 'It began with a goldfish' by Dr. D. Ford followed by an auction of aquatic items. Several specialist fishkeeping groups will be putting on information stands.

Showing hall - all classes are of an open nature

Ryedale Championship - Will find a 'fish of fishes'.

Shanghai Ryedale style - One adult, one pair and six exhibitor bred youngsters. One aquarium split into 3 sections or 3 sep. aquaria allowed.

Mini-Open Show - 10 Classes covering tropical freshwater and coldwater fish.

British Cichlid Association Mini-Open Show - Cichlid of the America's, Cichlid of Africa, Cichlid Matched pair and Cichlid breeders classes.

Photography and craft Classes.

To far for me no transport and i live in Cumbria

i must admit the last one is but the other two are not that far a way from you it travel from the border
of co Durham and north yorkshire up to tyne side and sunderland

I called at "North Lakes Aquatics" in Penrith today, very impressed, well worth a visit, good choice of tropical fish not so many marine, there was also a well stocked selection of pond fish and a huge selection of accessories for all fishkeepers.
