yeah dunno whats bred with though could have any of 10 lyretails in the store tank. she is a monster though. i thought it was a male wheni 1st got her untill she strted swelling.

wil be removing her to her birthing net soonas to catch al the fry and cross them back with her.

She has been Seperated and looks like she is ready to drop.

she is sepereatd and feeding on:
live foods only:
bloodworm, daphnia, mayflys, dragonfly, mealworms, crickets, fruitflies, maggotss, worms, brubs, daddy long legs, moths, ants, spiders, whatever she catches on the surface of the tank.

I found some stunning Koi Swordtails yesterday. and Am wonderingif i can mix them into the breeding - what would i expect as an outcome.

i know i would have to keep seperating the fry to breed on there own with the Koi Males.
How long would the Crossing take to see any Koi Trident results.

No More Fry this week, but she is getting bigger.
keeping up the live foods and she is devouring Mozzies like they were skittles or something.

The Female Koi's are nice and big, might get some decent fry from them aswell.

she is very pretty looks like a betta sort of :D

Still Only 2 Fry, and they look amazing.
Still keeping up the Live food feeding with spirulina for health.

how did you manage to get her from customer returns at MA - do you work there or something, out of interest.
shes a stunner by the way :good:

Lovely fish m8, has it dropped fry yet cos it dont look ready in the pic..

How rare are these cos my lfs has some in like it but not that colour?

I spotted her in a tank of Mixed Mollies/Platties that a customer had bought in to exchange for credit. Plus I know most of the people who work there, and they always tell me if anything interesting comes in.

From what i understand from chatting with the BLA (British Livebearer Association) Members, this gene is quite rare and does not show very often. so if they have some grab them and get them breeding.

I am going to be showing her and her Fry @ the BLA Show in October, have already reserved My Place.

I saw some with that type of finnage at the LFS here in the US last week. They are a very nice fish but I don't think they're all that rare. They surely were at one time but now it seems the LFS are starting to get them in as normal stock.

Gill may be a problem with BLA show you have to enter fish as a pair, you cant enter a single fish.
FBAS adn A of A you can enter singel fish.
