Hi everyone,

I believe that my tank recently had an parasite infestation. My fish were rubbing and darting off objects.

I treated the tank with mardel coppersafe. Since then i think the parasites has been removed or reduced. However, some fish seem to have skin problems like it could be a secondary bacterial problem.

I have ordered in bulk since my tank is large some oxytetracycline hydrochloride to deal with both gram negative and gram positive bacteria. I was going to treat along with the coppersafe some maracyn and maracyn2 which claims to be compatible with coppersafe and each other but buying enough of the maracyns to treat 135 gallons for numerous days would be big time expensive.

My question is does anyone know if its okay to use coppersafe with the oxy-hydrochloride?

Thanks for the help :good: ,
Mike

Shouldnt really mix meds as they can cause chemical reactions.
How long have you got to go with the coppersafe.

Hi Wilder,
Thanks for your help. 3 weeks ago i put 4 oz of coppersafe which is the dosage needed for my tank. 2 weeks after that i did a 30% water change (normally i do a weekly 30%)and added roughly 1.5 oz more coppersafe because i read that you should add more per water change..

Supposedly, coppersafe remains effective or active for up to a month. To answer your question, i don't know how much longer i got to go. The dosage instructions are confusing. Maracyn and Maracyn 2 can both be used together with coppersafe according to Mardel the makers. Thats why i was wondering if oxy-hydrochloride could be used with coppersafe. I know some medicines should not be used with others.

Thank you for your help thus far,
Mike

Ok.
Its up to you if you want to add the med.
But you must increase aeration in the tank.
