Media from fish pond

Can I use some of the media from my fish pond, or even water from it. On my pond I have a bio filter thingy, is that the same ones as would be active in the tropical tank, if so I could save a lot of time cycling.... please say yes. Paitience is not my strongest virtue

well you could use the bio filter media but you'd have to wash it really well and I wouldn't even think about using pond water as it has all kinds of parasites and could pass all kinds of cr** to your tropical tank
