You can pick them up at most maidenhead aquatics, most of the year. Have you considered a fahaka puffer instead? Some people would say you could keep one in a 4x2x2 for life

hi m8 i all ready have a nile puffer in the tank of his own i just want an mbu thanks for the advice

ark aquatics 01227 738209 had some nice ones recently. they have 3 shops in kent so depends where you are really.

8ft long, 2ft deep, 3ft high, or am i getting my order the wrong way round...if not id go for a 3ft deep, allowing far more space for an Adult Mbu to turn around.

You add a lot more to the cost if you have it 3ft high which isn't really necessary. Sensibly I think you could get away with a 7 long by 3 deep, by 2 high. Especially if you get it young.

I would have to agree with fella, my uncle owns a 20" mbu in a 7x3x2 and it doesn't look stunted at all, all the fins are proportionate. It is very active and seems to be doing very well. It is probably THE most rewarding fish ever. If you can provide the housing they need, by all means get one.
