I currently have a grow out 75 gallon aquarium. That houses four three inch Oscar fish, one five inch albino silver Arowana, one four inch albino pleco and one 2.5-3” mbu puffer fish. I’ve been in the hobby for about 25 years now, so I know what I’m getting into. Right now I feel like the fish are comfortably housed and will be for about six months, I’m pushing for 12 months, but we’ll see how fast everybody grows. This is my first Mbu however. And I know it’s a risk some people say that she will kill everything in the tank other people say that she may be in danger and I wanted to ask your guys opinion. My hopes are since they’re all around the same size, it MIGHT work. I’m really hoping they learn to coexist with plenty of food, sheltering spots, and prayers lol. Do any of you have experience keeping them with other similar sized fishes? I’ve seen it done, I just don’t want her or my arowana to get hurt mainly.
And what do you guys feed young mbus? I did a good amount of research and decided on ordered 60 bladder snails to get started. I’m going to offer her blood worms tonight. Any other frozen or live foods you guys would recommend? Or any advice or tips in general on my current setup would be appreciated. She looks very thin and I’m trying to fatten her up.
And for the record, we are upgrading to at least a 220 gallon in 12 months. I’m hoping and trying to make a 300 gallon work. But rest assured these fish will be cared for. As far as the growout, how am I doing? How long do you guys think I have lol? I also have more Amazon swords plants and jungle Val coming this week to add to the backdrop.
