Hey.. I've got a 20 gallon tank and everything was fine, my fish were great, and the water was good.. I took water samples to my pet shop for testing every time before i added fish, etc.. Then last night i decided to do a water change and gravel vaccuum, then went to bed and when i woke up my water is cloudy as hell now..
My PH is around 7.5, i treated the water properly before adding it for chlorine removal and conditioning, I've done it before and everything was fine.. grrr.. what could the reason possibly be for this? I'm starting to worry... My tank has always been clean, good vision, no bad smell, no algae and crap like that.. what the hell :( :S

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

What are your ammonia and nitrite levels? How long has the tank been set up? I am willing to bet that this is a bacteria bloom and is very normal as a tank cycles and stabilizes. HTH :)

hey i had the same prob. before knowing about the cycle, i added my molly and two platties. i also have 6 snails! but anyway i did a partial water change the other day and my water went cloudy as hell. everyone has told me that its a bacteria bloom and it will go away when your tank is done cycling. i know it looks awful, mine does at the time too. i did another partial water change today to see if it helped but it didnt. so just wait it out,e verything will be fine (i hope for me too) check your water though. my ammonia is zero but my nitrite is quite high at 0.6 or more.... ?

I'll get back to everyone with the ammonia levels and nitrite levels.. the tank has been set up for a couple months.. It's really quite cloudy and sometimes you gotta really look to see the fish hiding in the upper corners of the tank because its so cloudy... if i start growing snails, i'll lose it.

please tell me how to prevent some funky snails, because my tank has never smelled too bad thank god, and i don't want it to start now
