I heard that you cannot treat a fish with maracyn if you don't have a filter. I'm not all up on the filter knowlegde yet so forgive me if this is stupid.

I've used maracyn several times without a filter and never had any problems with it. I don't remember anything in the instructions about having to have a filter either.

Yea, I was told that if you medicate with maracyn without a filter, theres no way for the medicine to get out or something. Well, the actual statement was a lot smarter than that, so I'm just trying to remember.

well I dont have a filter at all.

So if you medicate with maracyn and do, every other day water changes, do you think ti would be so much of a problem?

My guess is that they were probably trying to say that if you use maracyn with a tank that has a filter in it, and the filter has carbon, it will render the meds useless.

I use maracyn and all other meds all the time in my betta tanks with no filters and they work just fine. In cases where you have fish other than bettas, you need an airstone with the meds because they take oxygen out of the water, but bettas are just fine w/out filters during meds.
