My TV is giving me grief, out of the blue i am getting sound but no picture, its the same whether it's Cable, Video or DVD

I will try a new scart lead, do you think thats a possible reason?

Anyway..... it's a 28" Sony that i got 2nd hand of e-bay for £50 so not the end of the world, had it a few months, would have liked it to last longer, if its not the Scart

Need Advice on this.....

If i need a new TV......

1. Do i need to buy a "digitial" one, due to the change over happening, which i believe is anytime between 2008-2012?

2. Can anyone break it down into laymans terms? If i am going to spend £300 approx on a TV, should i make sure i get one thats compatible with the change-over?

3. If my budget is about £300 and i am buying new, which is what i am going to do, any suggestions? From what i can see, i might be able to get about a 28" LCD screen

4. Has anyone heard of a got any feedback on these brands; Accoustic Solutions and Wharfedale. I see these in Argos and they are cheaper than the other brands. I know the saying "get what you pay for" i just wondered, how much i should stretch for a leading brand. I really dont want to go over £350 at the maximum and dont want to fart about with 2nd hand, need something quick and need something decent. Also wouldnt mind going through Argos to get the free delivery and no quibble exchange etc.....

5. Whats all this "HD ready", do i need that? Or is that something i havent really got the luxury of due to my budget?

Here's some links of the Argos one's i got my eye on, would really appreciate it if anyone has time to take a look and feedback to me.

Ok and ok if you do not want HD in the future or the most clearest of pictures. However 2nd one comes with no freeview.

3rd
one is a great tv, good brand, special offer and comes with HD, high definition, which would be useful so you do not have to upgrade in the future. Also comes with freeview built in so you can get some normal digital channels.LCD's (liquid crystal display I think) seem to gve the clearest pictures aswell.

Same goes except no built in freeview so you would have to buy a box for about 30 pounds.

5th
^Same goes

6th
Same goes^This time however it is much cheaper so you could spend the money on something else (budgets are always went to be met ;) )
7th
Do you want such a big tv?80 pounds for 4 inches more :/

8th
Same goes^

3rd one looks a great tv and personally I would go for that. But afterall this I think your problems is most likely your scart :X

...We have a 50 inch so bravia rear projection (great way to save money) LCD HD ready tv in our lounge which is about 100 inches wide :X
