i am going to take my guinea pig to the vet at 3.30 today and i am just hoping someone can help me who is vet related.
i'm so scared he has a tumour and i 'm getting myself worked up about it.
this morning while taking scruffs out side to his pen, my son noticed his left side teat had become really swollen and theres a hard mass at the bottom of it and theres blood coming from the tip.
could this just be some form of mastitis or could it be a tumour and what can i expect will happen if it is either?

It could be many things I'm afraid :/ only the vet can tell you on examination. There really is no point in speculating about something that can be entirely benign or a life-threatening tumor. I hope he turns out to be OK though - let us know !

thanks bloozoo2 i'm just a bit worried i suppose. i have done a search and can only find mastitis in females and none give a description, but i am still hopeful that its a bacterial infection. will post when i have been to the vet.

the vet said though rare, mastitis can be found in males. he thinks he has a benign tumour which caused the infection. i have antibiotics to give him and see how he goes for the next week. -_-

That's great news :D at least for now anyway. As your vet said, Mastitis in males are rare, but quite possible. And as animals get older they often develop "lumps and bumps" that are quite benign.
I hope the treatment works and all works out well. Good luck ! B)
