Marine Tank Setup

i was just wondering i am about to convert my tropical fish tank into a marine tank and ii have just about finished my sump just waiting for my return pump but all i want to know is would it be ok to put some live rock in my sump with my tropical fih untill my friends tank has finished cycling and then the fish and ornaments will be going in there then i will be be putting all my marine stuff in my tank
