Hi.

I am new to this hobby and have just set up a 250 ltr aquarium. At the moment I just have live rock in it but have some small cretures that look like slugs coming out of the rock. I need to know if they are harmfull before I place anything else into the aquarium. They are about 1" long greenish grey in colour with about 1/2 of the body covered by an oval soft looking shell. They climb glass and graze on the rocks. Any help will be much apriciated.

Many Thanks.

Richard

Spot on thanks for your help.

Sounds more like Stomeatella snails to me. These are slug shaped dreatures with a shell shaped like a fingernail. They can move pretty fast for a snail too!

If its a stomatella snail then there is no need for concern as they are great additions to the cleanup crew,

ewww I have been so jelous of the marine tanks lately I love all the shrimp, and your pics of the rock coming to life. I am officially cured for the time after seeing that water spider. Made my skin crawl.

Thankfully i have never seen a water spider in all the time i have kept marines or i would now be keeping gerbils :*)
