i want to set up another nano reef, a 60 litre 60*30*35 aprox.

i figured that if i bought 2* T5 twin 18 watt starters, so i would have 4*18watts of HO T5 light.

what do you think as it will be more than enough for a few softies. and what would be the best tube combination?

4 T5's would be fine for most softies I can think of :good:

I'd go 2* 14K Marine Whites and 2* Atinic's if it were me :good:

You will get more experienced replys in the marine hardware section though

on my tank i have 4x24 watt t5s and i am able to keep sps in the high areas of the tank. I have a tank of the same dimensions.

If you get 2x24 watt t5s and starters then you will be able to keep some lps, all softies and all zoas :good:

As for tubes, i would get 2 whites so that you have the best lighting par output on 2 tubes. I would say 2xkz coral light new generation or 2x aquascience 15k. These both have a lot of blue in them so you will get actinic flourescence with better par and lighting output. These tubes come in at about £20 each.

If i were you, i would get 3 t5 starters. This would mean that you could get cheaper tubes but have 2 whites an an actinic. I would go for ati tubes, 2 aquablue specials and 1 actinic plus

ok thanks alot, i saw the ballasts at a shop the other day the twin HO T5 ones for £15 im buying 2 tommorow and the tubes, is blue atnic for night light?

kind off,
blue actinics are to make the corals look better by making them flouresce, it makes greens and oranges stand out better in my opinion. They are also used as a dawn/dusk effect like 1 hour before and after the main white lights come on, this reduces the stress on the fish from it being completely dark to bright white

actinics, well blues at 20k are often used for aestetics. If you look in my sig, that is 2 14k whites and 2 purple actinics. I wouldnt get that setup though ;)

anymore questions? just ask :)
