Hi everyone ive had a tropical fish tank for a few years now but thinking of upgrading to a marine saltwater fish tank just asking for some advice and first steps what i need and what filters etc cheers

It really depends on what you want from your marine tank. If you just want to keep marine fish, the set up isnt a whole load different from a freshwater tank, its a little bit more work but not to much. If you want corals and other inverts, and live rock and a real micro reef then it starts to get hard.

Take a read through the pinned topics and then decide which tank you really want. Also do you have a tank size in mind? Remember always, that bigger is better.

well i have a 60 usg tank and im wanting to keep just marine fish not to fussed about all the corals just want to know the basics what i need cheers

:hi: Dayne

you will require approx 25k of live rock for filtration
a couple of power heads like koralia
refractometer
skimmer
coral or aragonite sand
test kits

this is a basic fish only with live rock set-up and buying your salt water from your lfs
