I think that must be the same tank I have, the dimensions are the same anyway. Does the light go inside a big holder that fits onto the lid with four screws, and the light shines through a window in the lid itself?
It's nominally a 60 litre tank, but it holds 57.5 litres - but then it's actually less than that if you allow for ornaments etc. I have a 100w heater in mine. It has a floating base (or at least mine does) which means there is a rim round the bottom, so the bottom sheet of glass isn't in contact with the stand. With this kind of tank, you don't need polystyrene, or whatever, under the tank, but you do need to make sure the surface it's on is completely level and there are no gaps. I have it on a cupboard designed to take a tank of this size. I've had it since 1996, or possibly 1995 with no problems - not too sure of the date, but I know I'd had it at least a year in '97.
One thing I learned a long time ago is that it's easier to handle the lid if you remove the screws holding the light fixture on. Then you can just lift off the light unit, making it much easier to take the lid itself off (no flex and less weight). And you have to unscew them anyway every time you need to change the tube.
Edited for spelling!
