I HAVE A REKORD 60 AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE MARINA 3D BACKGROUNDS IN BARK OR ROCK- FOR AROUND 12.99 HAS ANY1 USED THESE ARE THEY ANY GOOD- HAS ANY1 GOT ANY PICS
HELP APPRECIATED

Hi, not used the Hagen Marina 3D but it looks pretty much the same as the Juwel Bark which I have in my Betta tank.

When you ask if they are any good what do you mean? If you are asking what they look like then that is a personal choice thing and IMO they are ok and do improve a bit as they 'age'

If you are going to silicone it in place bare 2 things in mind. Firstly you must use aquarium safe silicone and secondly be very sure that it will be the 'look' that you want as it will be hell to get off!

Personally, as my tank is small I cut it so it fitted VERY snugly then wedged it under the top lip and backfilled the bottom with sand. It hasn't moved in several months and can be instantly removed should I need a change.

My bigger tank has the Juwel Rockface (b****y expensive!) and I stuck that in, looks great IMO but I am literally stuck with it....

*Edit* 3rd button up on the left of your keyboard - Caps Lock......you may want to clik it (we can all 'hear' you ;) )

I have seen them on eBay and my son-in-law got the grey rock one. He's happy with it and I reckon it looks ok for the money. He's had it for 6 months or so without a problem

will they look more realistic with age?- thanks for the reply btw

Well anything in an aquarium looks better once it ages as it looks more natural. How the background ages depends. My big community tank is years old with a Juwel rock 3d background. It has a bit of algae on it and a few patches of Java Moss that have grown naturally by small bits clinging on after a trim. The shrimp I have spend most of their time scampering all over it. I wouldn't have anything else :good:
