Maracide treatment for ick

my 10 gallon fish tank was hit hard by ick and before i understood what had happened i lost a lot of fish. I'm now down to a mollie, a frog, and a bottom feeder who's name i'm unaware of how to spell. Anyways for Maracide do i leave in the carbon filter or take it out? Do i raise the temperature or not? the instructions are vague. Also will maracide work enough to cure even the far gone fish? (in case that last sentence made no sence, if they are really covered in ick will they be able to pull through?) Thanks for the help.
