Mantis Shrimp

hey all,

went to my LFS today for water testing etc, and my mate who owns the shop gave me a small mantis shrimp. purely as a side interest of mine.
they came in on live rock, he had a couple.
only teeny but still cool

for now the little fella is in a floating breeding trap in my reef tank, but if he gets bigger i will have himn on his own in a cool setup.

that's the one......remember seeing one on Blue Peter YEARS ago. Fascinating little creature.

i have always wanted one but my lfs wouldnt order me one in lol

he is only about an inch at the moment but they can get up to a foot in length!
they have always fascinated me and now i get to watch it grow and become evil lol

They are some of the neatest creatures ever. Make sure that top is on tight!! They are escape artists! They have better eyesight than we do

My LFS has this cool red one, and he's going to be the main attraction of my pico!

he has already enjoyed some mysis, and isnt hiding as much. he seems to prefer it under the blue lighting, ill get some more pics in the light tomorrow
