I have a 12G eclipse aquarium and I am trying to decide what fish to put in it. It's actually going in my dad's office, so he wants something... how should I say it... "manly"? Not some cute little goldfish. Preferably something aggressive. Any suggestions? Also, what plants would you recommend?

Maybe a Wolf fish:

Hoplias malabaricus (full grown: 12" in aquaria, 20" in the wild)

The Wolf fish is a predatory Characin found in Central and northern regeons of South America. They have a long cylindrical body and a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth.

The wolf fish is able to breath air, using its swim bladder as an accessory breathing organ. This helps them survive in extremely swampy waters.

They are very hardy fish, and extremely carnivorous.

This is a very aggressive fish, and so tankmates should be able to fend for themselves. Provide shelter through rocks and roots with large plants in which the fish will lay in wait of prey.

Wolf fish are a livley, fierce and interesting fish to have in an exotic aquarium, and are also avid jumpers. Cover the tanks!

Shell dwelling cichlids probally have at least four in there they are small but fast, make their own territories and defend them

There is no way that you can keep a wolf fish in a 12 gallon tank
Sorry. I couldn't think of another "manly" fish.

maybe some apistos or red tailed shark i dont know its hard to get a agressive fish in a 12g

or maybe 2 convicts would be good

For a 12 gallon? Maybe two but not four.

Thnx for all the suggestions! I am definitely going to look into the dwarf puffers, shell dwelling cichlids, and apistos. Those look like really cool fish (on the web at least). Thnx again for all the input! :)

I second the dwarf puffers. Not only do they like to rip apart snails and other foods, but they have great personalities.
