Mama & Her Kittens

Heheh, no pictures while the eyes are open... They just opened yesterday. at 8 & 9 days old. Got them during cleaning ( they were still sleeping and the mama was eating) thankfully it was only 5 seconds it took to snap a picture or I would have felt bad picking them up.

Awwww. So cute! What are your plans for them? Are they strays? How's the mother handling your presence? Sorry for the questions. Yeah, mine were about that age when I found them.

The mom came from an animal hoarder, I guess the cats were free range because three were pregnant. One gave birth to a single kitten who had to be manually tube fed. Poor thing, the mother was only a year old and completely ignored it. Along with the cats there were 29 chihuahuas, numerous pugs and pomeranians and a few large mix breeds. The conditions were bad, crap all over and such, but nobody had any diseases, except for fleas and earmites and a few pissy chihuahuas. They got a checkup every week at the vet for four weeks until everybody went into a foster home, so this cat got her fleas and earmites all sorted out before she came, of course. The kittens were 3 days old when we got them, now almost 10, doesn't seem very long at all. We'l probably give them back to the shelter at 8 weeks or 9 weeks of age, they get adopted fast since almost always there's a waiting list of kittens yearound, don't get too many unneutered strays around here so everybody wants them. The mom is actually VERY good for having no socialization, adores being patted and doesn't mind having anybody pick up the kittens at all, she's in a cage right now but when the kittens get older they'll all be let out. We have numerous toys, including a a huge patch of catnip growing outside.

Aw, thanks for the POTM nom guys. He does that a lot, silly one! Even more now that he has his eyes opened before everybody else.
