Malu Nem Wont Stick? Help Needed.

Hi guys,

I bough a Malu nem 2 days ago and he hasnt attached himself to anything yet. The tenticles are out.... Could it possibly be dead?

Not sticking Is not a good sign, I have heard of people putting a platic colinder over them to get them to settle but usually it's because they are unhappy.

is it white almost like bleach? and mine to a few days to find himself a nic little hidey hole.

I wasnt sure if it was dead. Do you know what a dead one will be like? Will its tenticles go in? I have a condy who is fine and healthy, water perams all good..... hmmm.

Hes sort of on the sand/next to a rock at the mo, clowns are trying to host him.

They are often shipped in poor health, and their decline is rapid. If the foots gone it's not going to be an easy task keeping it alive. Are it's tentacles sticky to the touch? Has it attached onto anything with it's foot? Have you left it to wander or have you been picking it up and placing it in different locations? What colour is it? Have you got a photo?

Loads of questions but they're needed to assess the situation.

If it was dead you would know!! Their tentacles normally shrivel and their mouth gaps and it looks like worms are coming out.

Does it react to you touching it?

Hes sticky, tenticles are out... the sticky bit was sort of elongated now shrunk. Is like a creamy white in colour.... currently on sand at bottom by a rock... Not sure if sand will put him off but he floats off the rocks with the flow.

They bury themselves in the substrate - malu's aren't rock anemones. I'm confused though, are you saying his tentacles have now shrunk?
Have you got a photo, it will help greatly. Are there any clear visible damage, tears etc to it's foot/base? Is it's mouth gapping?

Ah in that case if hes not a rock anemone then hes probably fine... was worried as he wasnt on a rock

it should still be sticking to the ground though..it doesnt sound fine to be honest..
