okay as the sugect suggests I am wondering how to know the sex of my fish
I know how to tell between male guppys and female guppys
male swordfish and females and how to tell male mollies and female

I also know my blue rams are a breeding set
one (colorul) is male one not so colorful but still colorful (female)

but how do you know the sex of angel fish

I have 3... I bought at the pet store in a tank where it advertised mix angel fish
I first bought 2
one is black gold and silver striped on its entire body (looks like the fish in a fish called wanda -god I hope Im not showing my age here LOL)

the other is pearl white with a yellow crown and yellow stripes on the top fin

they have been in the tanks together

one is in the back swimming is a small area alone
the other is in the front swimming in a small area alone
both are peaceful

I hadnt added the 3rd to the tank yet
today I did its pearl white with a pink crown and pink stripes on the top fin
its also slightly smalled than the other 2

the wanda look a like ignored the new angel but the yellow fin (Tigger) didnt
at first it did slight bump at its tail now it is following it all over the tank stuck like glue to it

now I am afraid they might be fighting but the bumping is subtle like my blue ram male and female (or even the male female sowrdtails) do

is it possible one is male and the other female?

how do I tell?

I know unlike mollies, guppys and swordtails angels are egg layers as are my blue rams

It is very hard to determine the sex of an angelfish, but they say during spawning the female has a tube, loner than the males.

Some experts say they can determine the sex, but even they are only %70 sure!

:) angels when they are small are very hard to sex. how big are yours? it sounds like two may have paired off, so all you can do is watch them carefully. they do get aggressive with each other as they pair but i wouldnt get worried unless you see one having lumps torn out of it or being continuously chased around the tank.

the wanda look alike is about 6cm from the point of its top fin to the point of its bottom fin
the new one (pooh) is just slightly smaller and I do mean slightly they are almost the same size

the one doing the chasing has the longer fins (tigger)and is about 8cm buts its body is only slightly larger than the other two so the legnth is mostly fins

tigger chases and does alot of butting up against pooh
tigger swims and then will hit pooh withs its body side ways
some times he swim glides back a little and kissy bumps pooh until pooh is in a cornor away from other fish then tigger swims away
tigger isnt aggressive at all with wanda only pooh the one that looks similar to him/her

as for the other tank mates they pretty much ignor them

:D sounds like you got a pair.
